God is within, and I am the universe. God is whoever. If you feel it you feel it, if you don’t you don’t. This isn’t the God that is documented in religion. It’s not a single person or entity at all. But God is the only word with the same spiritual and holy comparative. Its a place, a confidence, the oneness within. God is the safety and the knowledge of yourself, and it is capable within us all. You are the centre of your own universe. You are God.
 
The centre piece of Cambo's 'I AM GOD' series, which roots its reference in 1980- early 00's queer history. The work features a group of lesbians hanging out of a window, using reference imagery from Phyllis Christopher, who documented queerness in its early forms of liberation.  ' I AM GOD' is painted subliminally, which draws connection to the signs used at the queer protests also photographed by Phyllis. Signs would read ‘ God is a dyke’, ‘God is a black lesbian’ ‘God loves us all’… you get it.
